Yr 5 Girls' Football Borough Qualifiers

On Tuesday 18th September, the Year 5 girls' football team travelled to Chesssington Community College for the first round of the Kingston Borough Football Tournament.

This was the girls' first time together and the group of 6 other schools they were drawn against were some of the strongest teams in the borough.  They were all very excited and channelled this into their football - exceeding our expectations with their drive and determination and team play.

The girls managed 2 wins, 2 draws and two losses to finish 4th in their group.  All the games were very close and the two losses were almost wins, so very unfortunate but not quite enough to qualify for the next round.  Great goalkeeping from Nor, who will surely only grow more confident in this role. Julia H and Eva showed their skills and ability to finish with great goals, solid defence support from Lily and Bianca and Gabrielle P - and also a great goal when we did finally let her play upfront.
Imogen and Gabi just kept on going and going - hounding the opposition and never giving up.  Well done girls you have the makings of a great team and your sportsmanship was awesome.
