Visit from the National Physics Laboratory
We were very lucky to have Andrew Hanson from the National Physics Laboratory visit us recently.
We had an assembly for years R-6. He told us about the highest and lowest possible temperatures in the universe. He also bought in a large container of liquid nitrogen, also known as dry ice. He performed a variety of experiments, including condensing the air in a balloon so it turned into liquid and explaining how the Ancient Greeks invented the steam engine, but didn't realise its importance!
Oh, and he also covered us all in dry ice!
