The learning of spellings is important in order that your child is able to spell words correctly in their writing. In addition to your child in KS2 completing their weekly spelling home learning, encourage them to practise their spelling using the website SpellingFrame. http://spellingframe.co.uk
Spelling Word List (Common Exception Words)
Practise these words with your child in order that they can read each word, know the meaning of each word and then spell each word.
Building this knowledge is best achieved through a focus on grammar within the teaching of reading, writing and speaking. Once children are familiar with a grammatical concept they are encouraged to apply and explore this concept in the grammar of their own speech and writing and to note where it is used by others.
The concepts will first be introduced and then revisited in subsequent years to consolidate knowledge and build on the children’s understanding. The grammatical terms that the children should learn are known as 'terminology’. They should learn to recognise and use the terminology through discussion and practice.
