The safety and well-being of every child and member of staff at St Agatha’s is our first priority. All our staff are trained regularly and thoroughly in all aspects of safeguarding. In addition, to ensure any concerns are dealt with effectively, we have designated members of staff with higher levels of training and expertise. If you need to speak to anyone about this please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Elizabeth Cahill or, in her absence, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) Sarah Barley via the school office (020 8546 3879).
Child Safety and Wellbeing in the Community
Safeguarding children is the action we take to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm. Safeguarding can feel like something that somebody else should deal with. Or we may be afraid about getting it wrong. We are all responsible for keeping our young people safe. If we have any concerns, we need to pass them on to the relevant body. Kingston and Richmond Safeguarding Children Partnership (KRSCP) have produced some guidance - please see the Top Tips poster below.
Single Point of Access (SPA)
You can also tell Kingston or Richmond’s Children’s Services about a child, young person or parent/carer that needs support in some way by contacting their Single Point of Access Team (SPA).

In an emergency, if you think a child is in immediate danger you should call 999.
All adults who work with children are DBS checked and we have policies on every aspect of equality, behaviour, anti-bullying, safeguarding and child protection. In cases where we have concerns, we involve outside agencies.
The main gates into our grounds and the doors of our main entrances are fitted with security buzzers. The only access to our school during the day is through our main entrance to our reception. All visitors are required to sign in on arrival and sign out when they leave. Visitors are given a lanyard to wear and all staff are required to challenge visitors on our site who are not wearing this identification.
Children are not permitted to leave our school, or meet with a parent/carer during the day, unless a prior arrangement has been agreed.

How to Report Abuse

The Click CEOP button
The Click CEOP button is an asset of the National Crime Agency CEOP command. The CEOP command works to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation both online and offline.
The button has been developed for children and young people and is offered as a convenient and potentially less intimidating method of reporting these sensitive types of crime, alternative to face-to-face and telephone reporting to local police forces. It provides children and young people with access to an online mechanism for reporting known or suspected child sexual exploitation or child sexual abuse directly to CEOP.
Reporting to CEOP
CEOP takes all reports seriously and children of all ages can report through the Click CEOP button. The reporting form is designed to be as accessible as possible by children, but it is highly recommend that young children seek the support of an adult they trust to help them make a report.
All reports to CEOP are treated sensitively and are read and risk assessed by a CEOP Child Protection Adviser. It is not possible to report to CEOP anonymously as CEOP have a duty to ensure the child or young person is safe. Reports made outside of office hours are viewed by the NCA Control Centre. Urgent concerns about a child’s safety are referred by the Control Centre to local police. CEOP advise any urgent reports where a child is in immediate danger should be reported to the local police force where the child is located.
