Mission Teams

At St Agatha’s School, our children play a vital role in supporting the school's Catholic identity and mission by promoting faith, worship, community engagement and school improvement.

Their roles and responsibilities include:

  • Promoting Faith and Worship:
    1. Leading and assisting with prayer and worship activities: This includes leading class prayers, preparing for Mass and ensuring prayer areas are respectful.
    2. Role modelling Catholic virtues: Mission Team members are expected to live out Catholic values in their daily lives.
    3. Enhancing worship: They offer ideas to improve school worship and may lead or assist with activities like Rosary Club during May.
  • Putting Faith into Action:
    1. Supporting charities: They actively support local, national, and international charities like the Cardinal Hume Society, Catholic Children’s Society and CAFOD.
    2. Outreach and community engagement: They develop and participate in outreach work, supporting the local parish and wider community for example collecting for food banks and letters to care homes.
    3. Helping others: They are encouraged to put their faith into action by assisting those in need.
  • School Improvement:
    1. School Councillors: They contribute to improving the school environment and sharing ideas for other areas of school life such as sustainability initiatives.
    2. Promoting a positive school culture: They help create a safe, caring, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Representation and Advocacy:
    1. Representing the school: They may represent the school at wider community events or other school activities such as attending the annual service to pray for those involved in the administration of our Justice System.
    2. Being ambassadors: They act as ambassadors for the school within the school community, the parish, and other schools.

Our mission teams and roles include RE Ambassadors, School Councillors, Sports Captains, Librarians, Eco team and Mini Vinnies.

Our newest team is the recently formed Mini Vinnies. Please read below to find out more about their role.

Mini Vinnies

As Mini Vinnies, we will be part of a national and international society – the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP). The society helps to fight poverty in all its forms. They give practical support to people who need our help in society – the poor, the sick, the elderly, the homeless, families, and children. You can find out more about the SVP on the website at www.svp.org.uk.

For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me
something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you
clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.

Matthew 25:36-37

As members of Mini Vinnies, we promise to make a difference to
our world by:

  • Caring for, respecting and loving ourselves
  • Strengthening our friendship with Jesus by talking to him each day
and talking to others about him
  • Caring for others in our school and community by being a friend to
those who are alone, in need or in trouble
  • Making our family happy by our help, respect and showing
    kindness and consideration
  • Caring for and enjoying God’s world
  • Treating others the way we would like them to treat us

Mini Vinnies Prayer
Lord, thank you for our gifts and talents.
Lord, show us who needs our help.
Lord, use our hands to help those who are hungry.
Lord, open our hearts to love and comfort those who are sad and lonely.
Lord, let us share our time, gifts and talents with those in need.
Lord, help us to care for the sick.
Lord, may we all help and support each other as Mini Vinnies to build a better world.
Amen
