Staff v Year 6 Netball Match

After the recent heatwave the staff and children were relieved to have some much cooler weather for the annual Staff v Year 6 Netball match. 

After being defeated last year the staff were keen to avoid humiliation once again! However, they would have their work cut out against a Netball team who finished 2nd place at this years Kingston borough Netball tournament! 

The whole school came out to watch the game. Most of whom, as usual, were cheering for the year 6 children! 

The match was extremely even and gripping throughout, neither team able to get a strong lead over the other! 

 

Going into the final few minutes the scores were tied at 6-6. You could sense the panic amongst the staff who feared another defeat was near. However, they pulled themselves together and scored two in quick succession. The children pulled one score back right at the end, but it was not enough. Final score 8-7 to the staff. 

Some score board confusion led to everyone believing the score was a tie, only for Umpire Mrs De Jong to confirm a score had wrongly been rubbed off for the staff....what drama! 

 

The year 6 children should be extremely proud of their efforts. Many a staff member commenting that they had to be at their best throughout the game, some even saying that this was the best year 6 Netball team they had faced!
