To mark British Science Week, our brilliant Year 6 pupils took on the exciting challenge of organising their very own STEM Fair—and every class in the school was invited to join the fun!

The hall was buzzing with excitement as children explored hands‑on activities and mind‑boggling mini‑experiments created and run entirely by Year 6. Curiosity was everywhere, and so were the smiles!

Our young scientists led investigations into questions such as:

🔍 What is density?
🌊 Why do some things float while others sink?
🧩 Why are puzzles so puzzling?
🍋 How can a lemon make electricity?
🏃‍♂️ How does friction affect motion?
🔗 Why do pulleys make lifting easier?
🥚 Can you really make an egg bounce?
🚆 What makes an electromagnetic train move?
🪙 When you flip a coin, are there really more heads than tails?

From floating experiments to lemon batteries and bouncing eggs, children were inspired to ask questions, investigate, test, and discover—everything STEM Week is all about!

A huge well done to Year 6 for their enthusiasm, creativity, and fantastic explanations. And thank you to all classes who came along ready to explore the wonders of science!

🔬✨ Stay curious!

Whether it’s speaking up in a new subject, sharing ideas that might be different to others, or knowing the risks but still having a go —remember: you’re braver than you think!

There’s so much going on this term:

🏆 Game On! Our sports calendar is packed. From netball to rugby, basketball to football, we can’t wait to see our teams show off that grit and teamwork. Get those kits ready!

🌍 Adventure Awaits! We’re taking learning outside the classroom with the many school trips heading out this term. Year 3 started us off visiting the Polka Theatre for a fabulous showing of The Firework-Maker’s Daughter, Year 6 are upping their creativity with a trip to the National Gallery and our Eco Warriors will represent St Agatha’s at the up-coming Eco Conference..and there's so much more to come!

🎨 More Than the Classroom: Clubs are back in full swing with morning and afterschool clubs available. From budding athletes to mini creators there’s space for everyone to try something new.

It’s a packed schedule, but the heart of the term is the incredible learning taking place in our classrooms. New topics, new challenges, and so many opportunities to shine! ✨

We were careful, curious, and kind to nature — just like real scientists! 🔬💚
They drew 0-0 with Malden Manor before there was a goal scored by one of our team in the match against Corpus Christi. We held on with excellent defending and constant running up the wings to win 1-0. The rain continued to pour while we played our last game against OLI. Although there were few goals, our one goal against Corpus Christi meant that we won the competition.

The girls were very excited to be able to have a photo with Katie Cox, a Chelsea and England U19 player who also refereed their matches. She was very impressed, praising their footballing skills but also their teamwork and leadership skills. It was a very successful morning for St Agatha's. Well done to all involved.

As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, the children at St Agatha’s had the opportunity to learn how playing sport and exercising can support their wellbeing. PE activities were led by Jack from Roar and were giving the thumbs up from the children.

‘It was fun. It was so fun. We went and played three games. The first one was when we were tagged. It was called Classic Tag. We also played tug of war. Each team got one point.’ Reception child

‘I really liked the dodgeball.’ Year 3 child

‘We pulled a rope together. One team was the blue team and one team was the white team. The games were fun.’ Nursery child

‘I enjoyed the medic dodgeball.’ Year 5 child

‘The dodgeball was great fun. It was a good experience at school especially as it helped us with our mental health and to get to know other children more.’ Year 4 child

In addition to the PE activities, the children were able to help build their resilience by having a scootering or skateboarding session. Here are some statements from the children:

‘I would recommend the skateboarding as it was really fun and I learnt how to do a pancake flip.’ Year 6 child

‘It was really good fun.’ Year 3 child

‘He showed us how to ride a two-wheel scooter and a bunch of cool tricks.’ Year 1 child

‘The scooter tricks were very fun and we enjoyed going around the cones.’ Year 2 child

‘I like how we were introduced to lots of new skills but we had a choice.’ Year 5 child

‘It encouraged us to try new activities and to learn new skills. It will give us more bravery and confidence in the future and we had a lot of fun doing it.’ Year 4 child

‘The skateboarding was so fun. We learnt how to do a pancake flip. It started off hard but it started to get easier the more we practised.’ Year 6 child

Other activities included making memory boxes for the children to be able to look back at fond memories that have been created. The children also very much enjoyed playing playground games such as hopscotch and popping bubbles thanks to members of the PSA who created them with chalk especially for Wellbeing Week.

‘I liked the Walk the Plank game where we could jump off into the sea’. Year 1 child

Year 4 were transported into the other world of Narnia as they took part in an immersive Narnia experience. This was in preparation for studying The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis this term. The adventure started off with the children making their way through the wardrobe of coats and entering the classroom to the wonderful world of Narnia where magic is around every corner.
They created oil pastel pictures of Narnia and were in awe of the classroom's transformation.

Pelican's class were most impressed - well done everyone.
