Early Years Foundation Stage

St Agatha’s Catholic Primary School offers a stimulating and fun learning environment following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
We believe that young children learn best when they are offered well planned activities in line with their own interests that excite and motivate them. Inviting and meaningful play and learning activities are specifically designed to meet their individual needs through both indoor and outdoor activities. Our Early Years staff work closely with parents to ensure we are best able to capture their child’s interest and ensure positive ongoing home school relationships.

Staff work closely with the rest of the school community, regularly meeting with other staff members and the SEND co-ordinator to ensure that early identification of any additional learning needs takes place.

The children and staff develop special books of learning experiences to celebrate individual progress and achievements.

All children in the Foundation Stage are taught according to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum with the areas of learning being:

•    Personal, Social and Emotional Development
•    Communication and Language
•    Physical development
•    Mathematics
•    Literacy
•    Understanding of the world
•    Expressive Arts and Design

We encourage parents and prospective parents to visit the school and to meet with the staff. Please contact the school office to make an appointment to attend one of our open mornings.

Please see below for supporting documents.

'What to expect, when?'  is produced by the Department for Education, and provides guidance to children's learning and development in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
