Religious Education

At St Agatha’s school, prayer is a vital part of the school day.  The children begin and end the day with a prayer and say a thank you prayer before eating their lunch.

The Religious Education scheme used at St Agatha’s is called The Way, the Truth and the Life.  It runs from Nursery to Year 6 and provides continuity and progression for each child.  The scheme allows children to discover the beauty of the Catholic faith in both an engaging and child-friendly way.  Each year group has its own Religious Education text books and children have the opportunity to explore different parts of the Mass, the saints, the Sacraments and different aspects of liturgical life.  There is a website linked to the scheme which has a Guidance for Parents section, which you can click here to access.

During the school year, there are many whole school Masses and each class has the chance to celebrate either a year group Mass at St Agatha’s church (Year 2 - Year 6) or a Prayer Service in class (Reception & Year 1).

RE Ambassadors

Here are our Year 6 RE Ambassadors 2018-19.  They are reliable, friendly and organised.  They often help out at assemblies; they welcomed parents and carers to our KS2 Carol Service and worked with a Year 4 representative to create an altar servers rota for the school Masses this year.  What a great start!

Rosary Group Leaders

Here are our dedicated Rosary Group leaders.  They come to Rosary Group every week, set up the prayer space and help to lead all the children in prayer.  Rosary Group runs every Friday lunchtime, 12.45-1pm in Swallows class.  All are welcome.

Rosary Club and Garden Rosary

Children from all year-groups are invited to attend Rosary Group. We start in class and finish in the prayer garden.

KS2 Assembly and Rosary Assembly

Every May and October we bring our rosaries to Key Stage assemblies. Children volunteer to lead us in prayer as we say a decade of the rosary.
