Examples of Learning

In this section we will show you some of the wonderful learning taking place in each year group.

December 17 - Year 3
In Year 3 we learned the story of the Annunciation, the visit by Mary to Elizabeth and the Nativity. We showed the progression of this wonderful series of events on a timeline.

Using a stick to represent the timeline, we covered it with different materials - paper, ribbons and fabric - to represent the people in the stories.

July 17
Richard Challoner Enrichment Day

Richard Challoner school hosted an RE enrichment day for children from local Catholic schools. Nine representatives from St Agatha's attended and took part in activities related to Our Lady of Fatima and the Rosary.
The children were involved in planning a Mass which was celebrated by Bishop Paul.
It was a wonderful day full of prayer and new friendships.
May 17 - Year 4
During our Indian topic, Year 4 have been looking into Hinduism, the most popular religion of India and one of the oldest religions in the world. We have understood and appreciated the huge numbers of gods and goddesses worshipped and have examined how worship takes place both at home and at the Mandir.  We have also thought about the symbolism of many of the rituals involved in worship and compared them with our own beliefs.   After learning about Easter, we are now learning about some of the first Christians. Our starting point for this topic has been Saint Peter and his unique position in the church. We discussed what he did and why he was chosen by Jesus.

April 17
Year 2
Year 2 have been reflecting on times when Jesus turned sadness into joy. We discussed the miracle of the Feeding of the 5000, looking at it from the point of view of the different characters. We have drawn pictures to symbolise the important elements of the story.

Year 6
STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Year 6 children acted out the Stations of the Cross during Lent.  They helped us all get ready for Holy Week.  We reflected on how sadness can often turn to joy and that we need to trust God in all things.

March 17 - Year 6
In our topic ‘Jesus, The Bread Of Life’, we learned about the Passion and death of Jesus.

We imagined that we were one of the disciples of Jesus and wrote about our thoughts and feelings during the time leading up to the crucifixion.

February 17 - Year 3
In our topic ‘The Sacrament of Reconciliation’, we heard the story of ‘The Lost Sheep’.

Using natural objects, we modelled our understanding of how Jesus shows us the way on our path to God. Sometimes we can stray off the path and get lost. Jesus, like the Good Shepherd, is always there to find us and bring us back to God.
